Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2020 Lincoln Nautilus

Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System here on a 2020 Lincoln Nautilus. So, what is a supplemental braking system and why do we need it Well, it's actually pretty simple. With a flat-tow setup, you're actually required by law to have some sort of supplemental braking system on the towed vehicle. The reason we need to have this is having a vehicle behind our motor home here is gonna increase the force being applied to our motor home when we're trying to come to a stop. It's, essentially, adding weight to our setup, putting more stress and wear on the motor home's brakes. By adding a supplemental braking system, we're gonna be helping stop the towed vehicle with an additional force there, to help free up some of the wear and tear on the motor home's brakes, to help us better come to a more clean and effective stop. more

Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking System Installation - 2015 Lincoln MKX- Video

Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking System Installation - 2015 Lincoln MKX

Today on our 2015 Lincoln MKX, we're going to install Blue Ox's Patriot II portable braking system, part number BRK2016. This braking system is going to make it easier and safer to tow your vehicle behind your motor home so when you apply the brakes inside your motor home, it's going to apply the brakes inside your vehicle. But not only is it going to apply it, it's going to be proportional. So the harder you're stopping in your motor home coming to a stop, the inertia sensor in the Patriot is going to react accordingly to apply the brake at the appropriate amount. This is a non-permanent portable braking system. So when you're not using it, you can just pull it out and remove it and you don't have to worry about having anything left inside of your vehicle that's modifying it. It just clamps right on to your brake pedal and it presses up against your seat. more

Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit Installation - 2015 Lincoln MKX

Today on our 2015 Lincoln MKX, we're going to be installing Roadmaster's Brake-Lite Relay Kit, part number RM-88400. Here you can see, we've got the left turn signal on our motor home, and it's sending it back to our vehicle. If you didn't have a brake light relay installed, when your braking system in your vehicle applied the brakes, you would only see a brake signal, instead of your turn signal. Now we have our brake light relay activated and when I hit the brake pedal, that brake signal doesn't interrupt our turn signal. We still have our turn signal. We'll begin our installation on our driver's side, here in the lower left kick panel area. There's a short red wire that comes with your kit. more

And in conjunction with that, we're going to be installing Roadmaster's Brake-Lite Relay Kit, part number RM-88400.This braking system is going to allow you to pull your vehicle behind your RV and proportionately transfer those brake signals to your vehicle, making it easier to stop and making you DOT compliant in certain states as well as other countries. So as you can see here, while braking in your RV, it transfers that motion back to the pedal in your vehicle, allowing it to stop smoothly. The control unit has an internal inertia switch, offering proportional braking. This can be adjusted with the sensitivity knob here. Higher is less sensitive. Lower is more sensitive. more

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2016 Lincoln MKX- Video

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2016 Lincoln MKX

Narrator: Today on our 2016 Lincoln MKX we're going to be taking a look at and installing the SMI Air Force One supplemental braking system for motor homes with air brakes, part number SM99243. Now, the Air Force One is going to be a proportional braking system, and it's going to take the air pressure from your motor home's air brakes and apply it to the towed vehicle's brakes so it's going to match up perfectly. Now, if we just tap our brakes in our coach, it's going to slightly apply them to the car. If we really push our brakes, the more it's going to apply in the car as well. When I apply the brakes in my motor home I do have an indicator that's mounted in the towed vehicle, so here in my rear view camera, or in one of my mirrors, I can see and make sure that they're working on my towed vehicle as well. There's the indicator light showing that I have the brakes on, and then it'll go out when I release the brakes. One of the nice features of this braking system is that it's permanently installed, so every time you want to take your motor home somewhere and you need to tow your vehicle behind it, you don't have to worry about taking anything in or out or reinstalling anything. It's going to be permanently there, but also, tucked up away enough that it's not going to bother you with normal driving. It's going to come with all the necessary air lines, fittings, and all your tubes as well as your breakaway switch and cables to hook everything up. more
